How does GIRO operate?

The Gabriola Island Recycling Organization (GIRO) has been operating for over 30 years and has become a central hub for the community offering a wide range of recycling services and reuse materials. On each open day (Wednesdays and Saturdays) the GIRO team help hundreds of islanders with their recycling, answering questions and sharing best practices on how to reduce our footprint. To support these ongoing efforts the GIRO team have created a video, a virtual tour about how GIRO functions and what you can do as a member of our community to support our processes.

In addition to this video, we will also be offering in-person GIRO tours each quarter where more information will be available, and you will have the opportunity to ask questions. Watch for upcoming dates on the GIRO website girodepot.com and in the local Sounder.
